About
Designated as a historical district in 1989, Carleton Village is a quiet Old Toronto suburb. Named after Guy Carleton, the first governor of Canada, the neighbourhood is home to a multicultural population. Bordered by St. Clair to the north and railway lines on the remaining three sides, the area is comprised largely of owner-occupied homes. If you’re looking to rent, this may not be the neighbourhood for you, unless you are determined in your hunt for the perfect Toronto rental to call home.

Carleton Village Rental Market: Carleton Village houses for rent are more affordable than other areas of the city. Purpose-built rentals in the neighbourhood are hard to find, however, there are plenty of Carleton Village basements and rooms for rent in homes with old-style character and charm, many of which were built between 1890 and 1920.
Life & Style
The shopping and dining scene in Carleton reflects the diversity of the population. Take a ride on the streetcar down St. Clair Avenue and you’ll have to fight the temptation to stop more than once for delicious, home-style cuisine. Just across the tracks is Earlscourt Park, which is home to an indoor/outdoor pool, skating rink, and tennis courts. It’s perfect for family outings or de-stressing after a long day at the office.
Neighbourhood
Central to the neighbourhood is the Carleton Village Junior and Senior Sports and Wellness Academy. The public school offers daycare, a swimming pool and K-8 education with a focus on active living. A variety of brand name stores can be found just outside the neighbourhood’s northwest corner. This area includes a grocery store, Home Depot, Best Buy and a few clothing retailers. Commuting by car to downtown will take twenty to forty minutes every morning. By TTC, two bus lines serving the area will have you to downtown in twenty-five minutes or less.
