North Toronto, also known as Midtown, extends from Eglinton to Moore Street, and from Bayview to Latimer and Proudfoot Avenues. The neighbourhood is home to some of Toronto’s most expensive real estate, although there are some more modest pockets in this large neighbourhood as well. This means apartment hunters in Toronto will find wildly varying rents and home prices. To avoid later disappointment, go into a home hunt here with a clear budget in mind and only look at parts of the neighbourhood that best suit your needs. Public transit in this neighbourhood includes multiple subway stations along the Yonge-University line, as well as several streetcar and bus routes. There are a number of parks of various sizes, in addition to the Rosedale Golf Club, which makes up the area’s northeast tip. Two community centres can also be found in North Toronto. The area boasts four library branches, including one that caters to kids. For shopping and dining, head to Yonge, Eglinton, Mount Pleasant, or Bayview. Entertainment options include a movie theatre in the Yonge Eglinton Centre and the Toronto Bridge Club. York University’s Glendon campus and Sunnybrook Hospital are located just outside the neighbourhood.

Who lives here: There is certainly a range of income levels throughout North Toronto, but overall, the people who live in this neighbourhood are well-off. Families are the norm here, with most residents being married and with school-aged children.
