The uptown neighbourhood of Davisville Village has been called one of the last vestiges of affordability within a reasonably short distance from downtown. For renters, it's certainly true – rents in this neighbourhood are still within what could be considered affordable by most renters, especially couples. For buyers, it's a different story, though. Houses in Davisville are big on character and charm, which has driven prices skyward. That said, though, both Yonge and Eglinton are positively lined with awesome hangout spots and are perfectly walkable on a sunny Saturday afternoon. On Eglinton, there's the Unicorn Pub and Scruffy Murphy's, and MC Murphy's farther towards Bayview. June Rowlands Park off Mount Pleasant is home to the local tennis club and a baseball diamond. There are four public schools – two elementary and two middle – in Davisville, and three private schools – Toronto Prep School and Greenwood College for high school-aged kids, and Sunnybrook for the younger ones.

Who lives here: People of all ages. Incomes tend to be on the higher side and the community is predominantly white, but the demographic landscape seems to be changing in favour of younger people and is seeing a mild influx of immigrants from the Middle East, China and Eastern Europe.

Perfect for: Professional couples wanting a short commute to downtown, young families, singles and seniors.

Not-so-perfect for: The super rich and the super poor.
