McKellar Heights is considered a trendy area, with its proximity to Westboro. It is home to the Jewish Community Campus of Ottawa. The campus features the Soloway Jewish Community Centre (where everyone is welcome), Hillel Lodge (a nursing home), and Hillel Academy School. McKellar Park is a welcoming space that houses the McKellar Park Community Building, picnic tables and benches, a basketball court, tennis courts, a wading pool, a ball field, and soccer fields.

Glabar Park is in the area between Fairlawn Avenue and Maitland Avenue. Most houses in the neighbourhood were built from the 1940's to the 1960's, and some townhouses were built off Fairlawn Avenue in the mid-eighties. Fairlawn Mall is on Carling Avenue across from Carlingwood Shopping Centre and includes a Staples, Harvey's, Swiss Chalet, Shoppers Drug Mart, LCBO, and Bridgehead Coffee.
