A lovely riverfront community
Sitting on the banks of the Elbow River, Bayview may be small, but it’s mighty. Dubbed the city’s “luxury community,” it’s a playground for Calgary’s healthiest and wealthiest. Most locals have built their lives from the ground up, acquiring their fortunes through hard work – and work hard they do, spending long hours at high-stress positions. That’s why, when they’re off, they throw themselves into the high-life, seeking out the best Calgary has to offer, including Bayview’s scenic riverscapes, premium shopping, dining and cultural entertainment.

Bayview’s entire housing market consists of detached homes and – less commonly – low-rise apartment buildings for rent. With 97% of residents owning their homes, it should come as no surprise that rental options are few and far between. If you’re looking for a house rental, Bayview could be the perfect place for you! Just don’t be too hopeful to find apartments for rent. Hunting for a townhouse or condominium rental? Try a different neighbourhood. Check out other neighbourhoods in Calgary on Rentals.ca! Life & Style
At work, Bayview’s residents generally face significant stress; so, in their downtime, they indulge, treating themselves to the latest luxury fashions, jetting off on exotic trips, and savouring the world’s most exclusive flavours. When it comes to enjoying the finer things in life, these residents are only limited by their time and creativity. Bayviewers also set aside time to run by the water, workout at the gym, or ski in the Rockies. Expect to keep trimmed, toned, and well-coiffed if you want to keep up with the Joneses here.
Bayview’s population is older than the average, which can be explained by the need for higher income to afford a home here. Couples are the norm, with about half having kids, most of whom are older teens.
As Bayview is a tiny, residential community, there is little within its boundaries. The only natural space it contains is a small section of greenery on the bank of the Elbow River. There is, however, Variety Children’s Park just west of the neighbourhood, with a sailing school contained within it. There is a bus route along 90th Ave. SW, as well as a number of restaurants and bars. In addition, 90th Ave. includes the Calgary Jewish Recreation Centre, and Calgary Jewish Centre Daycare. Further afield are several Elbow River adjacent trails and a number of museums.
Perfect for: Well-educated empty-nesters with healthy bank accounts.
Not-so-perfect for: Trendy, young singles.
