Safe, affordable and well-located
Glamorgan – in Calgary’s SW quadrant – is basically a miracle: a highly affordable neighbourhood that’s also safe and welcoming. The area doesn’t have the same rampant issues with drug use and crime that appear in many of Calgary’s other low-income neighbourhoods. Instead, Glamorgan boasts a strong, tight community marked by local volunteer-run organizations that run family-friendly events, activities for the kids, and area beautification projects. This almost too good to be true neighbourhood is, of course, in high demand, especially with low-income families. Look, Glamorgan isn’t the perfect area, but it’s pretty damn close – especially for the price.

A blend of modest detached homes, townhouses, and apartment buildings.
There’s a wide variety of housing in Glamorgan, including detached houses, townhouses, and apartments, as well as co-op buildings. Flash isn’t on the menu here, but it’s possible to find comfortable, modest house rentals and apartments for rent. Just make sure to do a careful inspection before buying anywhere as there are some places with major structural issues. Prices are great for renters, but it can be difficult to find an available smaller apartment to rent or a spot in one of the community’s co-op buildings. Need help on your rental search?
