This decision by the provincial government marks a return to the standard inflation-linked formula, following several years of rent increase caps set below inflation. The 3% cap is based on changes in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statcan.gc.ca\/en\/subjects-start\/prices_and_price_indexes\/consumer_price_indexes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consumer Price Index (CPI)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For renters, this adjustment offers potential financial relief, as previous rent increase formulas included an additional 2% over inflation. This cap is part of broader renter support measures, including the Province&#8217;s annual renter\u2019s tax credit, which provides $400 to low- and moderate-income renters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Landlords are still required to follow the guidelines of the Residential Tenancy Act, including providing three months&#8217; notice before any rent increase using the appropriate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/housing-and-tenancy\/residential-tenancies\/forms\/rtb7.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notice of Rent Increase form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
