{"id":3748,"date":"2024-03-25T16:22:42","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T20:22:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rentals.ca\/blog\/?p=3748"},"modified":"2024-04-05T16:57:54","modified_gmt":"2024-04-05T20:57:54","slug":"guide-to-using-two-factor-authentication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rentals.ca\/blog\/guide-to-using-two-factor-authentication","title":{"rendered":"Guide to using Two-Factor Authentication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding your privacy and enhancing the security of our online rental marketplace, rentals.ca now requires the use of Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all user accounts (<em>Effective April 2, 2024<\/em>).\u00a0 Two-Factor Authentication is fairly commonplace these days and you have likely been asked to setup 2FA on other websites you frequently use.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a process meant to significantly decrease the risk of a someone illegitimately accessing your account, even if they somehow have access to your password.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How the process works<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>When you login to your Rentals.ca account with your email and password, you will be prompted to enter a 6 digit number to complete your login.<\/li>\n<li>Our system automatically sends an email to your inbox based on the email address we have relating to your account.<\/li>\n<li>The email will contain a 6 digit number that you must enter on the website popup.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the 6 digit number on the popup on the website and click Submit.<\/li>\n<li>You will only have to do this process every 30 days.\u00a0 If you use different devices to login to your rentals.ca account, you will need to authenticate for each device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3751 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/rentals.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2fa-screenshot.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"818\" height=\"519\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rentals.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2fa-screenshot.jpg 818w, https:\/\/rentals.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2fa-screenshot-480x305.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 818px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 6 digit code will expire in 15 minutes after it is sent.\u00a0 You will have the option to <strong>Send it again<\/strong> on the popup window.<\/li>\n<li>The email will come from <strong>contact@rentals.ca<\/strong> and should go to your inbox.
