{"id":2873,"date":"2023-06-23T17:07:48","date_gmt":"2023-06-23T17:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rentals.ca\/blog\/?p=2873"},"modified":"2023-06-23T17:09:55","modified_gmt":"2023-06-23T17:09:55","slug":"most-respondents-in-renter-opinion-poll-still-undecided-in-torontos-mayoral-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rentals.ca\/blog\/most-respondents-in-renter-opinion-poll-still-undecided-in-torontos-mayoral-race","title":{"rendered":"Most respondents in renter opinion poll still undecided in Toronto\u2019s mayoral race\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three days before voters go to the polls, more than half of the respondents in an opinion poll conducted by Rentals.ca of renters in Toronto, are still undecided on their choice for Toronto\u2019s next mayor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When asked \u201cwhich candidate do you plan to vote for mayor of the city of Toronto,\u201d 59 per cent responded \u201cI am undecided.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thirteen per cent said they are not planning to vote; Olivia Chow received 11 per cent; Ana Bailao got 10 per cent and Mark Sanders garnered almost 8 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/city-government\/elections\/by-election\/by-election-voter-information\/by-elections-voting-places\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toronto voters will go to the polls from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to select Toronto\u2019s next mayor.\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Affordable housing and high rents are on the minds of many voters, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/news\/gta\/2023\/05\/22\/its-the-number-one-issue-for-us-why-renters-could-be-a-force-in-deciding-torontos-mayoral-race.html?\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">renters could be a force in deciding Toronto\u2019s mayoral race.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the online survey emailed to renters at 5 p.m. Thursday, 85 per cent of the respondents cited high rents as the biggest issue in Toronto\u2019s rental market.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thelocal.to\/toronto-mayor-election-housing-platforms-major-candidates\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The candidates\u2019 rental housing policies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> were very important to 73 per cent of the respondents and somewhat important to 15 per cent of the participants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">71 per cent strongly agreed that it is crucial the next Toronto mayor take action on the shortage of rental housing in the city, while 20 per cent agreed with the statement.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of Friday at noon, the opinion poll had 109 respondents.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three days before voters go to the polls, more than half of the respondents in an opinion poll conducted by Rentals.ca of renters in Toronto, are still undecided on their choice for Toronto\u2019s next mayor.
