Kendra Baker<\/strong>, 29, of Ottawa is the winner of Rentals.ca Facebook \u201cWe\u2019re paying your rent for August\u201d contest and wins a free month\u2019s rent.<\/p>\n

Baker lives in a downtown apartment with partner Jack Nugent.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Rentals.ca asked Baker, who attended Carleton University, a few questions about renting in Ottawa.<\/p>\n

Q) How long have you been in your rental, and what\u2019s the one thing you look for in a place to rent?<\/b><\/p>\n

A) <\/b>Baker and Nugent have lived in their downtown apartment just over a year. \u201cI love being within walking distance of\u00a0 amenities, such as a grocery store, convenience stores and walking paths.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Q) What\u2019s one piece of advice you have for someone looking for a place to rent?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

A) <\/b>Baker advises \u201cgetting a feel for the neighbourhood\u201d as well as for the building is important. \u201cHaving friends in the neighbourhood is also a bonus.\u201d Baker learned about their rental through a friend.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q) What amenities do you have to have when renting a new place?<\/b><\/p>\n

A) <\/b>They have a schnoodle dog they affectionately call \u201cOllie,\u201d so important to Baker is that two off-leash dog parks are nearby.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q) What would you change to make renting easier or more efficient?<\/b><\/p>\n

A) <\/b>\u201cI would love to see air-conditioning become standard for apartments. We\u2019ve had major heat waves that have been a challenge for people and animals.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Q) What are a few things you love to do in your spare time?<\/b><\/p>\n

A) <\/b>Baker is a fan of Karaoke and loves going on longer nature walks with Ollie. \u201cI like getting out of the city and into nature.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Q) With a free month of rent, what do you plan to do with the extra cash now freed up in your budget?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

A) <\/b>\u201cI plan to put some toward savings and paying bills.\u201d <\/span>But also, \u201cmy parents\u2019 wedding anniversary was last week, so I\u2019d like to go to Toronto and take them out to dinner to celebrate.<\/p>\n

Q) Have you ever won anything before?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
